Shackletons Memory Walk Raises over £1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society

On Saturday 28 September, a group of Shackletons colleagues and their friends and family laced up their walking shoes and took part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk. The event, held in the scenic grounds of Temple Newsam in Leeds, offered participants the choice of a 2.5km or 6km walk in support of the fight against dementia.

We were thrilled to be part of the event, which saw over 2,000 people come together to make a difference. Through individual and team fundraising, we have raised over £1,500 for this vital cause, contributing to the Alzheimer’s Society’s incredible work to support those living with dementia and their loved ones.

Shackletons are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that impacts so many lives in our sector. Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently there is no cure. There are currently around 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and this is expected to rise to 1.6 million people by 2040. It is estimated that 70% of residents in UK care homes have dementia or severe memory problems.

You can donate to the Alzheimer’s Society via our Shackletons Memory Walk Just Giving page. All donations will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society to support their research and to help those living with or supporting someone with dementia in the UK.
