Care Show 2022: Shackletons to join panel discussion


The Care Show will be taking place on 12 – 13 October 2022 at the NEC Birmingham. The annual event brings together thousands of health care professionals from across the UK to hear from expert speakers and to find out about the latest products and services for the healthcare sector.

Over the two days, there will be over 80 expert speakers delivering carefully curated content in the seven conference theatres.

Shackletons are delighted to be hosting and taking part in a panel discussion on the first day of the event. The panel discussion entitled Senior Living: From Funding to Fit-out will bring six leading experts in their field from banking, commercial property, healthcare regulation and consultancy, dementia care, architectural design and contract furniture to share their thoughts on the latest insights in senior living.

Key topics in the discussion will include:

  • Funding and investment for new homes and refurbishment projects
  • Inclusive design for senior living
  • The development and operation of buildings for people living with dementia

 

Introducing the panelists 

Bhavna Keane-Rao, Managing Director from BKR Consultancy will be the moderator for the panel. Bhavna has over 30 years of regulatory experience in the health and social care sector. She was a senior manager with the Care Quality Commission so has a deep understanding of the current regulatory environment in the care sector. She represents the care sector on a number of advisory boards and judging panels including; The International Care Ethics Observatory, Caretech foundation, Pinders Healthcare Awards and the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Awards. In 2019, she was the winner of the Asian Woman of Achievement for Social and Humanitarian award.

Julian Evans, Head of Healthcare at Knight Frank LLP, the market-leading and award-winning healthcare property consultants.  Since 1994, Julian has concentrated on the valuation, acquisition and disposal of trading businesses and fixed income. He specialises in healthcare consultancy and annually advises on £12 billion of healthcare property for corporate and private operators, private equity, lenders, institutions and funds in the valuation and brokerage of corporate and fixed income portfolios. Additionally, Julian is an adventurer, fundraiser, Fellow of The Royal Geographical Society, The Explorers Club, The Arctic Club and The Alpine.

Derek Breingen, Head of Health and Social Care, Virgin Money, Derek has many years of UK multi banking experience and a passion for social care. Virgin Money is now a well-established successful alternative lender in the sector. The Virgin Money creative team provide specialist financial solutions to support a wide variety of health and social care businesses as well as real estate investment finance. He also launched the care home development finance offering which has delivered over 85 new care homes. This dedicated sector approach is now a key segment for the bank. Derek is actively involved as an advocate promoting improvement in the betterment of social care nationally and is an Ambassador of Championing Social Care

Fiona Walsh is the Principal Architect at DDS Architects. Fiona holds two fellowships one in architecture and one in neuroscience / brain health. Fiona has combined this knowledge to advance the understanding of how to design better and more operational efficient buildings, that support senior living and people living with cognitive and sensory deficits. She is an international speaker on inclusive design and dedicates much of her time to advocacy work creating awareness of the importance of inclusive design in supporting cognitive and functional abilities. Fiona co-founded DDS Architects which specialises in designing inclusive environments.

James Rycroft, Managing Director and founder of Vida Healthcare. James is passionate about the design, development and operation of buildings specifically for people living with dementia. Vida was established for this sole purpose and continually challenges how care is delivered, how environments can affect lifestyles and wellbeing, and how research can support the future of dementia care.

Sir Anthony Ullmann, is the Chairman & CEO of Shackletons Ltd, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of furniture for care and senior living. Anthony is a highly motivated, successful entrepreneur and proven business leader, with more than 40 years of international experience within the global automotive, textile supply chain and speciality contract furniture sectors. Anthony is passionate about the care sector and saw an opportunity with Shackletons where he could make a difference. Since taking ownership of Shackletons in 2018, Anthony along with his team have focussed on building a strong reputation as a premier supplier of contract furniture for residential care.
